How Did Syria’s Rebels Get This Gun?

Video appears to show world's most powerful rifle in hands of Syrian rebels
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/04/03/world-most-powerful-rifle-raising-fears-in-hands-syrian-rebels/

New YouTube video from the Syrian battlefield shows rebels firing what appears to be the same high-powered sniper rifle favored by U.S. Navy SEALs, leaving some experts wondering who the ragtag army of insurgents might train the guns on in the future.

The British-made AS-50, accurate from a distance of 20 football fields, is made for British Special Forces and has been used by Navy SEALs. The video shows Syrian rebels, who are aligned with Al Qaeda, firing guns that look like the AS-50 and shouting “Alahu akbar.” Even if the rifle is a cheap knock-off of the AS-50, it has raised questions about who is supplying such devastating hardware.

“The video, showing jihadist rebels of the 'Descendents of the Prophet Brigade' firing one of the world's most effective sniper rifles, should be cause for alarm," said David Reaboi, of the Washington-based Center for Security Policy. "We don't know who has been supplying this group (or the myriad others) with these weapons but, given the jihadist ideology of these groups, it's only a matter of time until they're turned on Americans or our allies and interests.”

The AS-50 set a reported world record when a member of the British Household Cavalry in Afghanistan’s Helmand province killed two members of the Taliban with successive bullets over a recorded distance of more than 1.5 miles, though the record is disputed.

The Free Syrian Army has been receiving weapons from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - all close allies of the U.S. But the U.S. has repeatedly stated that it has sent no weapons to the opposition forces.

The U.S. State Department has acknowledged directly providing $385 million support to the Syrian people, including “emergency medical care and medical supplies, food aid, and winterization supplies like blankets and heaters for those affected by the crisis.” The site also reports that “over 4,000 major pieces of equipment have been provided, mostly to Damascus, Aleppo, and other areas with significant opposition presence, including communications and computer equipment, as well as generators.”

If the rebels were able to get AS-50s, experts say it could prove impossible to determine where and how many.

The sniper rifle, manufactured by Accuracy International – which sells arms to the Turkish and Saudi Arabian militaries - has a fearsome reputation. It has been used in various theaters of war in recent years by many elite forces, including both the SEALs and British Special Forces.

“I know from first-hand experience how revered the AI product is, even in the States, where traditionally U.S. producers are favored,” a British Army sniping instructor told Wired in 2011.

Call of Duty, a warfare game that in 2009 sold more than 7 million copies in just one day, seemingly endorsed the already lofty reputation of the AS-50 by featuring the weapon in one of its many urban combat simulations, giving the sniper rifle something of an iconic following amongst players of the record-breaking video feature.

The Free Syrian Army has recently made significant territorial gains against government forces in the two-year-old bloody civil war that in March saw its worst ever body count, with independent monitors determining at least 6,000 people were killed.

The AS-50 costs about $10,000, according to Reaboi. Even if the rebels are toting cheap knock-offs, the weapons could be around long after the war in Syria ends.

"We're unsure of how many they have," Reaboi said. "Equally troubling, of course, is the training ground of the Syrian civil war itself; like the conflict in the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan, we will be facing tested veteran jihadist fighters who don't just leave the war when the one battle is over. I'm afraid we or our allies will have to face them shortly, and with exceedingly lethal weapons."

Especially concerned is Israel, which shares an increasingly uneasy border with Syria in the Golan Heights.

With the Free Syrian Army increasingly dominated by more radical Jihadist elements such as the Al Qaeda-associated Al Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra), concern is growing that it won’t be too long before battle-hardened Islamist fighters as well as mercenaries from around the globe who have joined the fight against Assad, turn their attentions towards Israel. In their experienced hands even a far from easy-to-use weapon such as the AS-50 would be indeed be lethal.

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Capt. Eytan Buchman told FoxNews.com that the IDF is keeping a close eye on all forms of weaponry being used in the neighboring conflict.

“The Israeli security forces are very closely tracking developments inside of Syria in order to isolate and identify any potential threat to Israeli security” Buchman said.” Paul Alster/FOXNews (4/3/13)

Fast And Furious II: Arms Shipments To Syrian Jihadists

Obama Hiding Arms Shipments To Syrian Jihadists
http://www.westernjournalism.com/obama-hiding-arms-shipments-to-syrian-jihadists/

"We all remember Obama’s Fast and Furious debacle where he was running guns to Mexican drug cartels and then invoked executive privilege to keep all the documents out of the public’s hands.

What if Obama was at it again, except this time instead of arming Mexican drug cartels, he was arming Syrian rebels?

(Or, more correctly, Islamic jihadists?)

That is exactly what he was doing.

The night Ambassador Stevens was murdered, Stevens was negotiating with the Turkish consul general for a shipment of thousands of Libyan shoulder-fired missiles to Syria, Turkey being the middle man for the nefarious enterprise.

Now we know why Obama literally watched Americans get slaughtered in real time. Now we know why the former SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty at the CIA annex a mile away from the Libyan consulate were ordered to “stand down” and not provide help—an order they eventually ignored to save the lives of twenty people—an order that cost them their lives.

Now we know why Obama and Hillary Clinton concocted a ridiculous story of a protest turned violent due to some obscure anti-Muslim video.

The truth is coming out and is slowly closing around one Barack Hussein Obama." Kris Zane/WesternJournalism.com (10/31/12)

Beck: Proof WH Lied About Libya Attacks And Evidence Of Treason?

Was Obama finished with our Ambassador to Libya where the Arms Trading was concerned???? Did he believe Chris Stevens was going to go public with what he knew about this administrations illegal trading of weapons to the enemy??? Was this like the dreadful murderous colladeral damage of 'Fast and Furious' ???

The Turkish leader left the meeting he was having with our Ambassador 1 hour before the attack without being touched, while the building was being watched by the attackers, according to the reports coming from onsite officials at the time, to the white house and to the internet.

The whitehouse WATCHED THE ATTACK on Benghazi go down, via drone recon. They were told as it went down it was a terrorist attack and while it happened THE WHITEHOUSE WATCHED OUR PEOPLE DIE FROM THE SITUATION ROOM!!!

And then lied about it!!!

Hillary Clinton said the buck stopped with her, taking the fall after the lies were being outted and blame had to be placed. I have always said,it is a deadly dangerous business to be one of Hillary Clinton's 'friends!!!' Any 'friend' of hers involved with the Whitewater Scandal could tell you that, if any of them were alive today! Every last one of them, even the ones who went to prison, died mysteriously! Remember Vincent Foster... Foster's death became part of a broad investigation of President and Hillary Rodham Clinton's financial dealings in Arkansas when Whitewater records were discovered to have been in his office six months after his death. He was found sitting up - dead - in Virginia State Park. Some theorized he died elsewhere, was wrapped in a carpet and brought to the park. Strangely, his death was ruled a suicide.

I said it on the day this took place, and I will say it again. This is a false flag. It had nothing to do with a 13 minute Youtube video. But for the public to know who the terrorist was who did it, would point the finger at the person who sold the terrorist the weapons to do it with!!! And that would be inconvenient just now. As he is trying to win a presidential election!

Obama's 3 Major Scandals Explained

"Benghazi, IRS and AP scandals reveal Obama's culture of corruption. News that the IRS targeted conservative groups for intense scrutiny is just one in a series of revelations pointing to a culture of expediency and intolerance in the Obama White House that corrupts this administration.

Consider the September slayings of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. diplomats in Benghazi. If the attack were revealed to be undertaken by terrorists, it posed a grave embarrassment to the president's anti-terrorism strategy—eight weeks before the election.

On September 12, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs wrote in an email, "The group that conducted the attacks, Ansar al-Sharia, is affiliated with Islamic terrorists."
If your opponents are evil, anything goes.

Yet, just days later on the Sunday talk shows, UN Ambassador Susan Rice characterized the incident as the result of spontaneous street demonstrations inspired by an anti-Muhammad YouTube video.

Obama Care, having passed through the Senate on a slight-of-hand, has been contentious from the start, and the Congress has not appropriated as much funds as Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would like to implement the law.

To do the work of HHS, she has sought large contributions from private health care companies to liberal non-profit groups. With health care so heavily regulated, it is hard to characterize these donations as voluntary.

No doubt, favors rendered will be returned, and it smacks of Chicago-style cronyism and corruption.

Now we learn the Justice Department misused subpoena powers to engage in sweeping fishing expeditions through Associated Press and personal phone records—clearly an effort to stifle investigative reporting that the American Civil Liberties Union quickly branded "an unacceptable abuse of power."

In 2010 the IRS began targeting conservative political groups seeking non-profit status for intense scrutiny and harassment. Former IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman and the White House would have us believe they were unaware of this targeting, and Mr. Schulman was adamant in denials at Congressional Hearings on March 22, 2012.

However, we now learn senior IRS officials were informed of inappropriate conduct two months later, but the Congress was not informed.

The White House can be expected to argue that the targeting was the work of overzealous underlings at the IRS inappropriately exercising discretion—much like the Nixon campaign thugs who broke into Watergate.

This fails to come to terms with the culture of contempt, cultivated by President Obama and other Democratic leaders, toward those who disagree with their progressive ideas.

President Obama's appearance of boredom and disinterest toward Governor Romney during the first presidential debate, and Vice President Biden's disrespectful grinning at Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, were an indication of something dangerously wrong with the Washington political culture. Many conservatives view Democrats, as not merely wrong but stupid, and many liberals view Republicans as not merely wrong but evil.

If your opponents are evil, anything goes.

Campaigns can get that way, but the conduct of the president requires a higher standard, and he should constrain his lieutenants' more visceral instincts. Instead, President Obama cultivates a culture of anything goes to defeat opponents and advance his liberal agenda.

Underlings act accordingly—any good manger will tell you subordinates exercising discretion take their cues from the conduct of their boss and the messaging of the CEO.

The folks that committed the worst offenses at the IRS were civil servants and three levels below Commissioner; however, the IRS is not a public service that attracts advocates of limited government. You have to be a believer in government—lots of it—to make a career as a tax collector and to target political groups seeking to reduce taxes and spending, and criticizing how the country is being run.

The president's contempt for political opponents and dissent, and expediency in delivering results, has corrupted the most basic functions of government, and emboldened those with personal agendas to threaten our liberties." djgabrielpresents (5/14/13)

Treason: Benghazi Revelations Could Sink Obama
http://www.westernjournalism.com/treason-benghazi-revelations-could-sink-obama/?utm_source=Western+Journalism&utm_campaign=c57e55ff17-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email

On Sunday November 4, late in the day, an odd video appeared (or rather was buried) on CBS’s website, entitled “Obama Suspects Libya Attack Targeted Americans.”

It was odd in that for several weeks, the Obama administration had finally dropped the idiotic narrative that the attack on the Benghazi consulate was caused by a “mob turned violent” over an obscure anti-Muslim video that no one had seen.

A closer look at the video shows that it was in fact taped on September 12, a few hours after Obama made vague remarks about the attack in the Rose Garden. That it was part of a 60 Minutes interview that CBS had clearly suppressed.

Why was the video suppressed?

It didn’t fit the narrative. Even though we later found out that Obama watched the attack on the Benghazi consulate in real time. Even though we later found out Obama had received an email that went directly to the White House Situation Room blaming the al-Qaeda-linked group Ansar al-Sharia, Obama in this suppressed video refused to call it terrorism. That Obama, in the suppressed video, oddly at the same time, thought the “mob turned violent over a anti-Muslim video” was equally ridiculous.

It was obvious what Obama was trying to do in the interview. He wasn’t sure what lie he was going to tell the American people about the attack and wanted to be as vague as possible.

But it wasn’t vague enough. It didn’t fit the narrative.

So it had to be suppressed.

What we now know is that Barack Hussein Obama was shipping weapons from Libya to Syria—arming the al-Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood-linked Syrian rebels—yes, our enemies—with Ambassador Chris Stevens as the point man—and needed a cover story to keep it out of the public’s eyes.

Arming of our enemies?

That’s treason in my book.

And if I remember correctly, that’s grounds for impeachment." -- Kris Zane/WesternJournalism.com (11/7/12)

Cover-up: Obama Knew Benghazi Attack Was Terrorist

"CBS quietly released hidden excerpts of a 60 Minutes interview with Obama yesterday that was taped on September 12, the day after the Benghazi attack, in which Obama admits that the “spontaneous mob turned violent” story was untrue. Why then did Obama spend two weeks blaming some obscure anti-Muslim video for the attack? What exactly is Obama hiding?" -- Kris Zane/WesterJournalism.com (11/5/12).

Why did it take CBS so long to release this video?  Why did they remain quiet after the debate when Obama claimed to have called Benghazi a terorrist attack from the very start.

This goes way beyond media bias.  This is media malpractice.

"Those who closely follow current events may often find themselves hearing a politician making a claim, but swearing they heard them say the exact opposite a month, a year, or even a decade ago

That’s because, many times, they did.

Tuesday night on TheBlaze TV, Glenn Beck aired a segment documenting a number of apparent lies and falsehoods being pushed by the current administration, though he was clear that GOP leaders have done the same.

In the case of health care reform, for instance, President Barack Obama repeatedly promised that families who earn $250,000 a year or less would not see their taxes increases by “one dime” under his plan. But when his lawyers were arguing for the bill in front of the Supreme Court, they said the exact opposite to ensure its passage, arguing that all the new “penalties” are taxes.

“It’s important that you understand the lies that have been told thus far, because they’re only getting worse, and they’re only getting much more dangerous,” Beck warned.

Beck argued that the administration has employed a “three-step process” that begins with lies, continues with revising history to fit the desired story, and concludes with smearing anyone who tries to speak out.

“The only way for them to maintain absolute power is for them to always be lying,” Beck said.  “To keep this illusion that they can never be wrong, they must silence or attack their opponents who prove them wrong time and time again.”

Beck analyzed the president’s words in more detail on his radio program Monday, from the president’s “early years” to the IRS scandal: Erica Ritz/TheBlaze.com (6/3/13)

Jay Carney & Obama's Lies On Benghazi is Insulting

"Jay Carney & Obama's Lies On Benghazi is Insulting, Lock these bastards up damit, 9/11 was a terrorist attack period, Why is Obama still the President, Obama was not born here, Jay Carney needs an ass whipping, Obama needs an ass whipping, Hillary Clinton needs her ass whipped

"The initial version of unedited talking points were from the CIA and included warnings about terrorism, al Qaeda and a lack of security at the consulate in Benghazi. The best assessment sent from the intelligence community included multiple warnings about the deteriorating security situation in Benghazi. The final talking points with scrubbed references to terrorism and al Qaeda were edited by the State Department after communication and a meeting in the White House. Carney claimed the only editing the White House did of the talking points was replacing the word "consulate with facility." Promoting Common Sense One Person At A Time (5/10/13)

Under Fire: The Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi

Book: Clinton's State told Benghazi was a 'terrorist attack' minutes after it began
http://washingtonexaminer.com/clintons-state-told-benghazi-was-a-terrorist-attack-minutes-after-it-began/article/2535081

Just minutes after 35 jihadists crashed through the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, nearly one year ago, the facility got word to the State Department, FBI and Pentagon that terrorists were attacking, according to a forthcoming book that provides the fullest review of the assault to date.

In “Under Fire, the Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi,” it is revealed that an unidentified security official in the Benghazi compound protecting Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens messaged the U.S. embassy in Tripoli: “Benghazi under fire, terrorist attack.” Stevens and three others died that night.

Twenty-five minutes after it began, the operation center at State received an electronic cable announcing the attack, according to authors Fred Burton, a former State Diplomatic Security agent and Samuel Katz, an author and expert on international special operations and counterterrorism.

Their findings in "Under Fire," based on exclusive interviews of those in the battle, refute days of claims by the administration that the attack was sparked by Muslim anger at a U.S.-made anti-Muslim film, and raise new questions as President Obama eyes military action in Syria that U.S. diplomatic posts in the region are properly protected.

The authors note that at the time of the attack in Benghazi there were riots against U.S. embassies in Cairo, Tunis and elsewhere related to the film, “Innocence of Muslims.” That could have been the cause of initial confusion about the attackers, but the eyewitness accounts by State and CIA agents in the battle — backed by live video feeds from drones — should have erased any doubt.

“Benghazi was a malignant symptom,” they wrote, “of a weakened and crippled al Qaeda seeking new battlefields.” They added that the September 11, 2012 attack, exactly 11 years after after al Qaeda’s assault on America, was “to be an opening salvo of a new jihad on the African continent.”

Also revealed for the first time: On her last day as secretary of State, Hillary Clinton summoned four of the five Diplomatic Security agents involved in the Benghazi attack to present them with State’s “Award for Heroism.”

Under Fire, while an unbiased timeline about the heroism of the Diplomatic Security agents, is sure to stoke more criticism of the administration’s handling of the politically-embarrassing attack. It provides a wealth of information that paints a night-long war at the poorly secured consulate and CIA annex that could not be mistaken for anything but a planned terrorist attack by men in vehicles displaying “the black flag of the jihad” and armed with AK-47s and rocket launchers.

It gives details of what drones controlled far from Benghazi flown over the two installations saw — armed attackers, not movie protesters. Sources told Katz and Burton that Images of mortar fire from a Predator drone left operators that night believing that the attackers were “Libyan military veterans of veterans of the jihadist campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen or Derna.”

It also gives the harrowing story of the firefight faced by those who escaped the compound and the two terrorist attacks that night on the CIA’s annex in Benghazi a mile from the diplomatic compound. “Their advance and assault were methodical,” the authors wrote of the terrorists.

The book reveals that none of America’s allies in the city provided any help. Many in the neighborhood watched the U.S. facility burn, some filming it on their cellular phones. Italy’s top diplomat “allegedly watched the attack unfold from his vantage point, a reserved table at the Venezia Cafe.”

It concludes: “So much about the night just didn’t make sense, but one question everyone was asking was, ‘Where were the good guys?’ Two and a half hours of war had been waged in the city of Benghazi and everyone in the know — and many who weren’t — were aware that the U.S. presence in the city was under full-scale attack. There were no cavalry charge of men in white hats eager to save the day and rescue the besieged American positions. None of the militias — not even the one on the State Department payroll — had mobilized their forces to mount a large-scale and deterring show of force.” -- Paul Bedard/WashingtonExaminer.com (9/3/13)
