Illegal Aliens Demand US Citizens’ Rights

"With decades of “we want our rights” precedents from which to draw, illegal immigrants are now demanding that they be afforded the same rights as US citizens. Thousands of banner wielding and sign-carrying illegals have attended country-wide protests, organized in large part by left-wing anti-American-sovereignty organizations such as Open Borders and MEChA (which advocates “re-conquering” the US southwest—and more than likely conquering other areas of our country—for its mythical nation of Aztlan), to demonstrate against any attempts by the United States to protect its borders.

As is usual fare for much illegal activity in the United States, charges of “racism” are readily and generously used in these protests. If anyone in the US dares to try to protect its borders, this intimidation attempt is always used. It’s “racist” to protect our borders. Recent lawsuits filed jointly by the ACLU and CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) have even told us it’s “racist” to spy on terrorists. The inevitable goals of the leftist agenda are now being pushed into our faces, homes, businesses, schools and now our streets. This is called “destroying America from within”. Note: Although the leftist-indoctrination, now at the high school and even middle school levels, seems to be working on our children—apparently it isn’t working fast enough for the increasingly anarchistic mindset.

The US House of Representatives passed a bill in December to protect our borders. This bill is now before the Senate. There are increasing attempts by the Mexican government to intimidate US Senators into voting down the border protection bill—the bill that is widely supported by “legal” Americans. The Mexican government receives billions of US dollars annually from the illegal aliens it has successfully placed on US soil. There is no way it will part with this “cash cow”, without a fight. The Mexican government also seems to say “pay no attention to our drug trade, which is causing havoc and violence along the US-Mexico border”—this too is providing addition revenues to that country.

In other words, the Mexican government, Open Borders, MEChA, LULAC and other left-wing organizations are all demanding that the US pay no attention to its laws—or to terrorists. Illegal immigrants and their handlers are telling us: “Our ‘rights’ trump the US, its Constitution, its citizens and its laws. Our wants and needs overshadow any of yours!” They are also telling us that we do not have the “right” to protect ourselves or to affect anything that makes illegals “uncomfortable”. Our rights end when illegal aliens and the left-wing anti-American contingents say they do. And they’re becoming more vocal and activist every day.

I agree that US businesses unlawfully employing illegal aliens should be prosecuted. But, the best way to ensure this won’t occur, in the first place, is to stop the flow of millions entering our country illegally each and every year. Please don’t forget, many of these have already been identified as terrorists. Either we stop the wave of illegal immigrants into the country, and actually—for once—have the guts to enforce our own laws or we will become a chaotic and anarchistic nation. Immigration And Christian Duty

"Just last week a reporter covering the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention asked me about the debate in the Christian community over the treatment of illegal immigrants: should we demonstrate Christian love and concern for their salvation or should we oppose amnesty legislation and enforce the immigration laws? The answer is yes – we can and should do both.

America is a nation of immigrants. From the beginning, people have come here for freedom and prosperity. As early as 1783, George Washington wisely explained the privileges and duties of those seeking to become citizens of our Country:

The bosom of America is open to receive not only the Opulent and respectable Stranger, but the oppressed and persecuted of all Nations and Religions; whom we shall welcome to a participation of all our rights and privileges, if by decency and propriety of conduct they appear to merit the enjoyment. (Emphasis added.)

The Statue of Liberty still beckons from the New York Harbor, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." We should never turn our backs to those who show by their "decency and propriety of conduct" that they deserve to live here as an American citizen. But as Washington explained, citizenship entails not only the rights and privileges which flow from it, but also the duties and responsibilities which entitle an individual to its enjoyment.

Immigration is the legal means by which one becomes a citizen of the United States. It has historically required an application process for citizenship, including a test, an investigation, and an oath of allegiance to our Country and Constitution. To call those illegally residing here "immigrants" is an insult to those who have demonstrated the patience, responsibility, and fortitude to immigrate here legally.

When a person – from any country – enters our Country illegally, makes no application for citizenship, does not learn our language, does not care for our customs, and seeks only the benefits of living in America, they have not “immigrated” here at all. They are not "immigrants," but rather, "illegal aliens." Recent "May Day" demonstrations by illegal aliens that feature Mexican flags, anti-American slogans, and racist statements against "gringos" only confirm the intentions of many illegal aliens to not assimilate into our culture and way of life, but to displace it with their own. Their lack of "decency and propriety of conduct" show they neither desire nor deserve to be legal citizens.

Nevertheless, regardless of a person's status as immigrant or illegal alien, the Bible does say in Leviticus 19 that one should "love [the stranger] as thyself" and should not mistreat him. Leviticus 24:22 states that the same law shall apply "for the stranger, as for one of your own country." Deuteronomy 27:19 warns that "Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger."

As Christians we are always to be concerned for the salvation and wellbeing of others, regardless of their citizenship. Justice requires that the laws be applied equally to citizens and aliens alike. Neither is to be treated unfairly or given special treatment. But because illegal aliens are not citizens, they do not enjoy the protection of regulations pertaining to such things as wage, labor, and housing. On the other hand, although they often pay little or no taxes, they receive the benefits of government welfare, health care, and education paid for by lawful taxpayers.

Nor are our immigration laws being applied equally. Illegal aliens from Central and South America are given special treatment when their presence here is excused, while those from other parts of the world suffer years of waiting and mountains of red tape to obtain American citizenship. Many legal immigrants are fleeing religious persecution, political oppression, or even civil war. Those who propose amnesty are actually rewarding and encouraging unlawful behavior by those who get here by simply crossing a river, a desert, or a dusty road just to seek a job.

Unfortunately, too many Christians have been deceived to think that our duty to love and care for illegal aliens means that we should ignore immigration laws and disregard our borders. But as President Ronald Reagan once said, "A nation without borders is not a nation." Our borders are compromised by illegal immigration, infiltration of terrorists, and by government policies of regional partnership that actually dilute the sovereignty of the United States. The choice is not between our Christian duty and our border laws – it's a matter of life or death for our nation.

The same God who commands that we treat aliens and "strangers" with righteousness and justice also clearly defined the physical borders for the nation of Israel, in detailed geographical terms, in Numbers 34. Israel, then and today, would not exist without borders—and neither will America.

We should love and care for "the stranger among us" and always be mindful of their need for salvation. But we also have a duty to apply all laws equally and fairly without regard to race, creed, color, or national origin. Our immigration laws must be strictly and justly enforced. Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hardworking and honest (except for when I broke into your house). According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hardworking and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hardworking and honest, um, except for well, you know. And what a deal it is for me! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me. Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!!!!!

One Reporter's Opinion: Illegals Take To The Streets

"NEWSMAX --It is this reporter's opinion that having observed the turmoil in America throughout 70 years as a journalist, the Marxists, Communists, Socialists and activists have never given up. They are still with us. While politicians debate the illegal-alien invasion in America and the Mexica Movement and other organizers of mass protest take to the streets demanding their "rights," we American citizens stand on the sidelines and allow this attempt to destroy America.

The demonstrations, the mass marching, didn't just pop up overnight; they are well organized. Meanwhile, our leaders – the president (and his half-hearted approach to defending the sovereignty of America), religious leaders such as Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles (who tells his 5 million Catholics to violate anything that would strengthen immigration law), and – weaken us further.

These supposed pillars of morality stand aside as the organizers of mass protest decide it is the non-indigenous white, English-speaking U.S. citizens of European descent who should leave our continent. Oh, don't doubt their intent; the pictures and captions tell the story:

"This is our continent, not yours" exclaims one banner.

"We are indigenous, the only owners of this continent" says another.

And the worst: "If you think I'm illegal because I'm a Mexican, learn the true history because I am in my own homeland."


One of the most obnoxious moments in the recent Los Angeles turmoil was when a marauding group of students tore down the school's American flag, replaced it with a Mexican flag, then ran up the American flag beneath the Mexican flag upside-down (the signal of distress).

And there are posters and banners characterizing those who speak for America as Nazis. Yet not a word of protest from the president, the cardinal or the Los Angeles mayor. What a disgraceful time in American history!

One who is qualified to speak objectively from both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border is our good friend Allan Wall, recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. Wall resides "legally" in Mexico with his wife, Lilia, a Mexican national, and their two young sons. Allan is an American who has been observing the marches in Los Angeles, Denver, Sacramento, Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Phoenix and elsewhere. The largest of these was March 25 in Los Angeles, where half a million turned out.

Allan draws a sharp contrast between the American and Mexican constitutions. He cites the fact that our Constitution doesn't include street protest as a form of legislation – that those who drafted our Constitution were opposed to "MOBOCRACY." "Many of the demonstrators are illegal aliens who don't have the right to be in our country, yet they're telling us they have their rights," he says.

Allan asks, "Why do so many display the Mexican flag if they are fighting for their rights in the United States?" Many of these protesters carry signs reading "CHICANO POWER," "THIS IS STOLEN LAND" and "VIVA MEXICO!"

Allan says: "Mexico would not allow this type of nonsense for a moment. Mexico respects her own sovereignty too much for that."

Living in Mexico, he cites the fact that legal gringos are not allowed to participate in protest marches, that in the year 2002 a number of Americans were immediately expelled for doing just that. He quotes Article 33 of the Mexican constitution: "Foreigners may not in any manner involve themselves in the political affairs of the country."

The thing is, Mexico has so many problems of its own and yet it is meddling in our affairs. And yet in broad daylight these demonstrators, marching openly and without fear, dictate to us what our immigration laws should be.

Tragically, all too many of these youngsters are dropouts who have no understanding of why they are protesting but are following the dictates of sinister manipulators bent on destroying our nation. These kids, who are just being used, are unable to articulate and most of them can't even carry on a sensible conversation.

Meanwhile, the Senate is quibbling and compromising away the heart of America. H.R. 4437 has passed through Congress and should be adopted in its entirety by the Senate. Instead they "fiddle as Rome burns." Unfortunately, history will record that we had our chance.

In 1919 President Theodore Roosevelt spoke of the decision to become an American and nothing but an American. He said there can be no divided allegiance, that we have one flag, the American flag ... that we have room for but one language and we have room for but one sole loyalty – loyalty to the American people. Teddy had it right. Let's hope this enlightens George." (George Putnam/NewsMax.com 3/31/06)
